Leeds United manager Steve Evans has decided against taking a position on protestors who want Massimo Cellino out of the club.

A Leeds fans’ group known as ‘Time To Go Massimo’ organised large scale protests against the club’s controversial Italian owner over the running of the Yorkshire club.

They beamed a series of 30 foot high images onto Elland Road before, and during the match between Leeds and Middlesbrough on Monday night to make their displeasure about the Italian owner known.

The group are planning to hold on to the momentum of the protests and are planning fresh demonstrations during Leeds’ home game against Bolton at the start of next month.

Evans refused to say anything on the issue, and insisted that as Leeds United manager his only responsibility lies with the team.

When asked about the protests, the Leeds boss said in a press conference: “The first thing you realise when you arrive at Leeds United is to focus on your own responsibility.

“My responsibility is the team, anything else lies with the chief executive and the owner.”

Cellino’s time at Leeds has been riddled with controversies; his eligibility as an owner has been challenged by the Football League and he has also been involved in a row with Sky TV over the frequent live coverage of the Whites.
