Steve Evans has hit out at Watford, accusing the Hornets of time wasting like a foreign side, after his Leeds United team went down to a 1-0 defeat at Vicarage Road in the FA Cup this afternoon.

Watford were the better side throughout, but Leeds only suffered defeat when defender Scott Wootton put the ball into his own net, giving Marco Silvestri no chance of keeping it out.

Evans took issue with Watford's play towards the end of the game, feeling they deliberately wasted time, so much so that he felt they did so like foreign side.

The Scot was quoted as saying by the BBC: "The time wasting was like something you'd see abroad, you don't want to see that in English football."

Evans also sympathised with Wootton, whose own goal cost Leeds the game and ensured they must wait until next season for another crack at the competition.

"Scott Wootton's in tears, he's apologised to every member of staff and he'll not sleep for days.

"It's probably the lowest point of his life", the Leeds boss added.

Leeds must now switch their attention back to the Championship, in which they find themselves sitting a lowly 17th.

The Whites' hopes of climbing up towards a playoff spot are all but over, however Fulham come to town on Tuesday and Evans will be desperate not to see the Cottagers leapfrog his team in the standings.
