Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan feels Jordan Botaka is not a Steve Evans type of player, with the winger having been signed by his predecessor Uwe Rosler.
The German, who was in charge of the Whites at the start of the season, snapped up Botaka from Dutch club Excelsior on transfer deadline day last summer.
Botaka has thus far failed to make his mark at Elland Road, with the Congolese international managing to clock up just 330 minutes over 10 appearances in all competitions for Leeds.
The 22-year-old, who came on as a late substitute in the 1-0 loss to Watford in the FA Cup last weekend, has struggled to secure a spot in the first team under Evans.
And Whelan is of the opinion that Botaka only got to feature against the Hornets because winter signing Mustapha Carayol, an Evans arrival, was not deemed fit to feature at Vicarge Road.

“Managers have different opinions of players and that is the problem”, he said on BBC Radio Leeds, summing up after the Watford game.
“With Botaka, he wasn't bought by Evans, he was brought in by Uwe Rosler.
“If Carayol had been fit, I really don't think he would have been here.”
Botaka, whose present contract with Leeds runs until 2017, has not played a league game for the club since the goalless draw at Charlton Athletic in mid-December and Evans has made clear he is unhappy with his performance levels.
