Rangers captain Lee Wallace has acknowledged that his side have struggled to score in recent games, but insists that he is confident of their ability to score goals and expects to see a lot of goals from now until the end of the season.

The Gers recorded a 1-0 win over Queen of the South yesterday courtesy of a thunderous volley from striker Kenny Miller in the 64th minute.

Both sides struggled to beat the goalkeeper in an intense first half, before the introduction of Miller, who scored within three minutes of coming on.

Mark Warburton’s side have failed to match their goalscoring exploits of the start of the season in recent weeks and have scored more than one goal in only one of their last six games, the 2-1 win over Kilmarnock in the replay of their Scottish Cup fifth round clash.

The Gers also contested their first goalless draw of the season, when the two sides locked horns at Ibrox on 6th February.

Warburton’s men have scored only six goals in their last six appearances, having scored 23 in the six before that.

Wallace, who has made 35 appearances for the Gers this season chipping in with six goals and 11 assists, believes that the Gers have a very highly talented squad capable of creating ample goalscoring chances.

Speaking in an interview with Rangers TV, Wallace said: “There’s far too much talent in that [dressing] room for anyone to question our goalscoring ability.

“I know for the last couple of games, we have not scored goals.

“But I am telling you as a fact, we have got top goalscorers and they can certainly score goals between now and until the end of the season, big, important goals.”

The Gers host St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday and will be looking to secure a win to maintain their eight-point lead at the top of the Scottish Championship.
