Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud feels there is no reason why his side cannot beat Champions League holders Barcelona at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Gunners come up against the reigning champions at home for the first leg of their round of 16 clash, looking to take an advantage into the second leg in Spain.

The Catalan giants are on a 32-match unbeaten run in all competitions going into the match.

Arsene Wenger’s side progressed to the knockout round with a heroic display in the group stages, which saw them qualify despite losing the first two matches.

The Gunners last came up against the Bluagrana in round of 16 of the Champions League in 2010/11, when Arsenal were knocked out after suffering a 4-3 defeat following the controversial sending off of Robin van Persie.

Wenger’s side were also denied their only Champions League triumph by Barcelona, when the two sides locked horns in the final of the 2005/06 season, and Barcelona won 2-1.

Giroud, who has 18 goals under his belt this season, believes the team will try to enjoy their time on the pitch with Barcelona.

The Frenchman feels that the Gunners have the quality in their side to cause an upset against the tournament favourites.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Giroud said: “The Champions League is always the big time for players, especially against Barcelona so we will enjoy it and give the maximum to give pleasure to our fans and take a lot of pleasure on the pitch.

"Why not win this game, because we have he quality for that.”

The Gunners will be hoping for a repeat of their 2010/11 first leg performance against Barcelona, when they recorded a historic 2-1 win.
