Lucas Leiva has called on Liverpool not to focus too much on Augsburg scoring an away goal in the return leg of their Europa League Round 32 clash at Anfield on Thursday.

The Reds failed to score in Augsburg’s WWK Arena last week, with the game ending 0-0, thus putting the tie on a knife’s edge.

The German team will qualify to the next round if they manage to win or record a score draw at Anfield.

On the other hand, a goalless stalemate will take the game into extra-time, while a win for Liverpool will help the Merseyside giants to progress in the Europa League.

And Lucas, who wants Liverpool to approach the return leg game like a final, warned his side against thinking excessively about conceding an away goal.

“We didn’t score an away goal there, so they’ll know if they score one then we’ll need to score two”, he explained to the club’s official site.

“But, at the end of the day, if we win the game then we’re though.

“Of course, we’ll need to be careful but I don’t think we should pay too much attention to that.

“It is a positive factor for them if they score, but if we win the game then we’re through so we just have to approach it like a final – because it is a final – and then with our quality, we should be able to get to the next round.”

After Thursday’s Europa League game with Augsburg, Liverpool are scheduled to face Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday.
