Leeds United fans have been told to expect a super fit Chris Wood when the striker returns from injury, with boss Steve Evans revealing he has personally drawn up the hitman's fitness plan.

Wood has been out of late and his absence has affected the Whites, who have had trouble scoring on a regular basis and did not sign a striker in the winter transfer window.

But head coach Evans insists that rushing Wood back is something he just won't do, while revealing that he drew up a fitness plan for the striker which means he will return a different player.

Speaking to LUTV following the Whites' 1-1 draw with Fulham last night, Evans said: "Realistically we're talking a couple of weeks [until Wood is back].

"When the Leeds United supporters see him come out they will see a different Chris Wood. They'll see an Evans Chris Wood", the Scot said.

"I've got him really fit now. I'm not doing the fitness, the guys are, but I wrote the plan, I've got the plan and they've executed it.

"The big man is working so hard. So when he comes back they are going to see a leaner, trimmer Chris Wood that we signed from Leicester City.

"The guy that scored all the goals", Evans added.

Leeds have managed just 30 goals in 32 Championship games this season, while only 13 have come at home, despite 17 league games having been played at Elland Road.

No team in the Championship have scored fewer goals at home than Leeds.
