Willy Caballero has insisted that Manchester City are determined to prove that they are a superior team to Liverpool by winning the League Cup final on Sunday.

The Citizens, who are challenging for a treble this season, were hammered 4-1 by the Reds in a Premier League game at the Etihad Stadium in November.

Mauneul Pellegrini’s team were totally outplayed that day as an own goal by Eliaquim Mangala was followed by strikes from Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Martin Skrtel.

However, Caballero, who explained that Manchester City are fully focused on winning the League Cup at Wembley, stated that his side are prepared to negate Liverpool’s high pressing style of play.

“We are ready for the high press from Liverpool and we are aware they have some great players”, he told the club’s official site.

“But we are working on ways of dealing with anything they can throw at us and know how we want to approach this game.

“This is a new opportunity to show that we are better team than them and we are determined and focus to win this competition.”

Caballero, who is expected to stand between the sticks in the League Cup final for Manchester City, has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season, keeping three clean sheets.

The Argentine was not his side’s goalkeeper when Liverpool thrashed them at home in the league, with Joe Hart being on duty.
