Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he was pleased with the character shown by Tottenham Hotspur during their come from behind 2-1 win against Swansea City on Sunday.

Spurs, who desperately needed a win to close the gap to Premier League leaders Leicester City, fell behind to Alberto Paloschi’s 19th minute strike at White Hart Lane.

However, the north London outfit never gave up and were rewarded by two late goals from Nacer Chadli and Danny Rose, both coming from Christian Eriksen corners.

And Pochettino, who felt his side fully deserved the win, went on to underline the importance of Tottenham coming out with the full three points to remain in the title hunt.

“This is the way we want to play and in football, it’s not always automatic”, the Argentine told the club’s official site, when asked how important was the character showed by Spurs.

“I’m very pleased for the team. The players deserve it because they work so hard on the training ground.

“We have a squad that deserves to be in the position we’re in and for that, I’m very proud.”

Tottenham, who are currently second in the Premier League with 54 points from 27 games, just two adrift of leaders Leicester City, will next face West Ham United on Wednesday.
