Steve Evans has been told to focus on his work and cut back on his talking by Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino.

The Italian supremo watched on in dismay as Evans' Leeds produced a shambolic first half performance to ship four goals away at Brighton on Monday night; and 45 minutes was enough for Cellino, who left at half time.

It ended 4-0 and Cellino told Evans not to speak to the media after the match. Indeed, the Italian feels the former Rotherham United boss has been distracted and wants him to focus on his work.

"The last few weeks he has been talking too much about the future, his contract, the players", Cellino told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He has to focus on the game", the Italian stressed.

"We are missing four or five players from the first-team squad and we are in an emergency, and instead of complaining we must just focus and try and play all together and not just complain in the media."

And Cellino wants Evans to focus on communicating with the club's fans through the football served up on the pitch.

"The best way to speak with fans is to play good football and not just talking in the media."

Evans has a chance to get Leeds back on track this coming weekend when struggling Bolton Wanderers provide the opposition for the Whites at Elland Road in a Championship fixture.

Following the visit from the Trotters, Leeds head to Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers.
