Former Portsmouth striker Steve Claridge feels Arsene Wenger should be asked some uncomfortable questions by the Arsenal supporters after his side’s recent title meltdown.
Arsenal’s season has been unraveling over the course of the last week or so, with demoralising defeats in both Europe and the Premier League, raising more questions about Wenger and his position at the club.
A 2-0 defeat to Barcelona at home has left Arsenal with a mountain to climb in their Champions League last 16 tie, and back-to-back league losses against Manchester United and Swansea City have dented their title hopes.
Six points separate the Gunners from leaders Leicester City in the Premier League table, and Claridge feels that time has come for the Arsenal boss to face some uncomfortable questions from the fans over his side’s continuous failures in pressure situations.
The former Portsmouth striker said on the BBC’s Final Score programme: “Why do you keep finding yourself in this situation, Arsene?

“What is it that you keep losing games when you should be winning and you're dominating? How have you managed to lose that game? Something like that.”
Arsenal supporters have vented their frustration after seeing their team unravel again at a crucial juncture of the season, and Claridge is not surprised as he believes the fans have been seeing these kinds of meltdowns from the Gunners on a consistent basis every year.
“The thing with Arsene Wenger is now, with every year that goes by that this happens, patience becomes less and less and less, so people start to crank it up much earlier and earlier and earlier.
“And in the end, like you say, it just reaches feelings [amongst the Arsenal supporters] like it does tonight.”
