Rangers midfielder Nicky Law feels it would be fantastic if Mark Warburton’s side were to qualify for the Europa League by virtue of winning the Scottish Cup, but reiterated that his team’s priority remains winning the league this season, to earn promotion to the top flight.
The Gers are set to face Dundee in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup on Saturday and if the Gers are able to win the competition they will be entitled to a place in next season’s Europa League.
However, winning the Scottish Cup will not be an easy task for Warburton’s side as the Gers could possibly face arch-rivals Celtic in the semi-final of the competition.
Law has fallen down the pecking order under Warburton this season, and the midfielder has only managed to make 22 appearances for the Gers, most of them as a substitute.
The 27-year-old insists that their manager will not allow them to think so far ahead as to thinking about playing in the Europa League after winning the Scottish Cup, but the midfielder did insist that getting back into Europe has always been the long-term aim of the club.

Speaking in an interview with Rangers TV, Law was asked if the Europa League was being discussed in the dressing room, to which the midfielder replied: “No, I don’t think the manager would let us think that far ahead, of course if it was to happen it would be fantastic.
“I think in the long run of course, I think that is the aim to get ourselves back in Europe.
"If it could be that quick it would be fantastic, but it will be a really difficult quarter-final and then of course, the semi-final if we were to make it, would be just as tough, so it’s a hell of a long way to go, difficult games and things like that.
“It will be a lot of games. The main aim is always the league and the aim at the start of the season was to win the league and get us back into the top flight and that is still the aim, and anything else would be a bonus.
“We are doing well in them and we will try to go far in them, but as I said it is too far to look forward even to the semi-final at this stage.”
