Craig Gordon has insisted that Celtic need the supporters’ backing as they prepare to face Greenock Morton in a Scottish Cup quarter-final on Sunday.
The Bhoys will head into the quarter-final clash on the back of two consecutive draws in the Scottish Premiership, the last of which came in the form of a goalless stalemate against Dundee last night.
However, Gordon explained that Celtic are desperate to win against Morton to book their place in the semi-finals of the domestic cup competition before turning their attention back to winning their fifth consecutive league title.
But the goalkeeper, who admitted that Celtic fans were bound to be disappointed after seeing their side struggle against Dundee, stated that the Hoops are keen to provide them with something to cheer about by winning the Scottish Cup quarter-final.
“We have to get a win to make sure we get through to the next round of the cup”, he told Celtic TV.

“Then we can concentrate on the league and get the points we need to win the league again.
“Yes, it was disappointing tonight, but we’ll go again against Morton in the cup and hopefully we can give something to the fans to cheer about.
“I understand they’re disappointed tonight. We need as much help from them as we can get.”
Despite the draw against Dundee, Celtic remained at the top of the Scottish Premiership table; although their lead was reduced to four points after second-placed Aberdeen edged out Dundee United 1-0 in another game last night.
