Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks does not believe the Newcastle United players are fighting for Steve McClaren and thinks it is worth the club thinking about replacing him with David Moyes.
The Magpies lost 3-1 at home to Bournemouth on Saturday to leave them mired in trouble in the relegation zone in the Premier League with 24 points from 28 games.
Crooks thinks that the Newcastle players do not appear to be playing for McClaren and feels that the club have a big decision to make over the former England manager, who was taunted by his own fans after the games, the Magpies faithful chanting 'you're getting sacked in the morning'.
"Doesn't look like it [that the players are behind him]! I mean when you look at the performance, it's a poor performance by Newcastle and it's a very professional performance by Bournemouth. Having said that, if you do replace Steve McClaren, who do you replace him with?" he said on the BBC's Final Score programme.
"At this stage of the season, does the owner back his judgement – he made the appointment – or does he go with someone else? If he goes with someone else, who is this someone else? The person that comes to mind would be….David Moyes", Crooks added.

It was suggested that Newcastle need someone with grit and determination to battle over the last ten games – and Crooks explained that is why Moyes must be seriously considered for the job.
"That's why I'm thinking David Moyes. Now, I think that's worth thinking about. But it's a big call!" he added.
Former Manchester United manager Moyes is out of work, having been sacked by Spanish La Liga outfit Real Sociedad in November.
Next up for Newcastle is a trip to face league leaders Leicester City on Monday 14th March, a game which is followed by a derby clash with Sunderland on 20th March.
