Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has backed the Gers to come out victorious against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final next month.

The Gers continued with their impressive run of form as they outplayed Premiership side Dundee 4-0 in the quarter-finals to seal a semi-final date with their rivals Celtic on 16th April.

The Bhoys, who came out 2-0 winners against the Gers in the League Cup during the 2014/15 season, on the other hand reached the penultimate stage by beating Greenock Morton 3-0 yesterday.

And now as the two teams prepare for yet another showdown, Boyd feels that the Gers due to their impressive run in the Championship will hold a slight advantage over their opponents.

According to the former striker, Mark Warburton's team will hope to seal the Championship title within the next five or six weeks. And that confidence will help them have a slight advantage over the Hoops.

"Over the next five or six weeks, I fully expect Rangers to have the league wrapped up, so they should be the confident team going into the game", Boyd was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"For me right now, I would sway towards Rangers."

Speaking about the chemistry within the Rangers team, Boyd added: "They've got that close-knit unit.

"If you look at the way they performed on Saturday, it was excellent right from the word go.

"It's going to be close. I'm leaning towards Rangers in terms of the tight-knit group. They know exactly what they are doing."
