Newcastle United winger Florian Thauvin is pushing for a move to Marseille this summer despite the Magpies agreeing a deal with Lazio.

Thauvin joined the north east giants last summer from Marseille, but he did very little during his brief stay at Newcastle and was loaned back to the Ligue 1 outfit during the winter window.

Marseille are keen to have him back for the new season, but have struggled to agree a deal that would see the winger head back to France on an initial loan deal.

However, on the other hand Lazio took decisive steps to reach an agreement with Newcastle earlier this week on an initial loan deal with an obligatory purchase option.

Despite an offer from Italy, the Frenchman wants a move to the Stade Velodrome, and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, he is pushing Newcastle to reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 outfit.
