New West Ham United capture Arthur Masuaku has admitted that can he can’t wait to play with the Hammers’ French star Dimitri Payet

22-year-old Masuaku, who is a left back by trade, has been acquired by Slaven Bilic’s side from Greek giants Olympiacos and has penned a four-year contract with the club.

Payet was a key figure in the Hammers’ seventh placed finish last season and also played a vital role in France’s progression to the final of Euro 2016, only to be ousted by Portugal in extra-time.

Masuaku, who made 24 league appearances Olympiacos last season and scored once, has revealed that he can’t wait to play with compatriot Payet at his new club, who lost 3-2 to Juventus during the official opening of the Olympic Stadium at the weekend.

The new capture told the official West Ham website: “I was speaking with my agent about some opportunities, but when he told me about West Ham and also the coach, I didn’t think twice, so in my mind, it was West Ham.

“Now, to be able to play with players like Dimitri Payet, I was thinking on the way here, it’s going to be crazy!

“I can’t wait to play with him and also all the rest of the team.

“For me, the Premier League is the biggest league in the world.

“When I was 18, my target was to come here, so now I am here, I have to prove myself to the fans and to the team so that I can play for this big club.”

The Hammers, who are taking part in the Europa League, open their Premier League campaign away to London rivals Chelsea, followed by a home game against Bournemouth.
