David Prutton has claimed that it is not necessary to be a Leeds United fan to know that something special is building at Elland Road this season.

Currently unbeaten in the league, Leeds are at the top of the Championship table on 17 points from their opening seven games and have made a fantastic start to their league campaign.

Finishing just outside the top six last season, Leeds are keen to challenge for promotion again this time around and new head coach Thomas Christiansen has made an instant impact at Elland Road.

With only seven games played, many want to remain cautious about terming Leeds promotion contenders, but Prutton feels there is enough evidence to suggest that something is in the process of happening at the club.

The former White feels the performances and the manner of the some of their wins mark Leeds as one of the sides to watch out for this season.

Prutton wrote in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post: “What looks on paper like the mark of a good side can sometimes be a bit deceptive, but Leeds are on a different level.

“Tuesday’s win over Birmingham was a grind, let’s be honest about that, but you don’t often hammer Harry Redknapp.

“Over the weeks they’ve outclassed Sunderland, comfortably outplayed Nottingham Forest and absolutely smashed poor old Burton Albion.

“You don’t have to be at the back of the North Stand to feel something building.”

Leeds’ unbeaten run will again be on the line when they travel to Millwall on Saturday.
