Former Celtic star Mark Wilson has explained that Moussa Dembele being in the squad for the Hoops’ league fixture against Ross County on Saturday will strike fear into the rest of the teams in Scotland.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Thursday that Dembele is available for selection against Ross County.

The Frenchman, who has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury in July, plundered in 32 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions for Celtic last season.

And Wilson insisted that while the Scottish teams will be fearful about Dembele returning to action, he can trouble teams outside the country too, backing the 21-year-old to make his mark on the European front as well for the second season running.

“That’s a bonus”, he told Celtic TV, while talking about Dembele returning to the squad.

“Leigh Griffiths has done great in his absence.

“But when you have got a guy like that sitting in the wings and ready to come in, it strikes fear into the rest of Scottish football.

“And I think with the Champions League games coming up and we all know how difficult these ties are going to be, you need your best players and he is certainly a top striker for Celtic, especially on the European stage.

“He proved that last year and I’m pretty sure if he gets the chance this year, he can do that again and he can succeed again.”

Dembele, who joined Celtic from Fulham in the summer of 2016, has thus far clocked up just 111 minutes over two matches this season, with both of those being Champions League qualifiers in July.
