Unai Emery has insisted that Arsenal’s record winning run is not on his mind after his side won their eleventh game in a row on Thursday night.

A 77th-minute strike from Danny Welbeck earned Arsenal a narrow 1-0 win at Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League and stretched their winning run to eleven games in all competitions.

The Gunners, under Emery, have surprised many with their consistency and performances this season and are just two points off the top of the Premier League pile at the moment.

Emery’s side are also within touching distance of equaling Arsenal’s record winning run of 14 games but the Spaniard insisted that it is not on his mind at the moment.

He is expecting a tough trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday and stressed the importance of enjoying the work his players have been doing as at any point their dream run could come to an end.

Asked about the possibility of touching Arsenal’s 14-game winning run, Emery said in a press conference: “Three matches. They are a lot of matches.

“We are thinking only of the next one against Crystal Palace and also to enjoy each moment with our supporters. Today, they are with us, some from London, some from here and that is very important, I enjoy it.

“I enjoy the work, I enjoy the process with very high demand for us.

“Sunday in history is one stadium that is very difficult for us, we know this. We are thinking of three points in Crystal Palace but it is very difficult to win there.

“For us to continue to win is what we want, but we know we can lose at any moment.”

If they beat Crystal Palace and then Blackpool in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, the Gunners will need to beat Liverpool at the Emirates to touch the record.
