Roma sporting director Monchi has made a four-year contract offer to FC Porto midfielder Hector Herrera in a bid to win the race for the Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target, it has been claimed.
Herrera, who joined the Portuguese champions in 2013, is not expected to sign an extension with Porto, after failing to reach an agreement with the club regarding his future.
The Mexico international has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham, due to his availability on a free transfer if he decides to leave Portugal next summer.
However, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Herrera is closing in on a four-year contract agreement with Roma, who are keen on luring the talent midfielder to the Stadio Olimpico.

The 28-year-old has earned 70 caps for Mexico since making his debut in 2012, while also scoring five goals.
Herrera, who is a product of the Pachuca academy in his homeland, made 42 appearances across all competitions for Porto last season as they were crowned champions of the Primeira Liga.
It remains to be seen if Roma can beat off competition for Herrera's signature and take him to the Stadio Olimpico.
