Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has admitted that the Reds need to step up if they are to make the Champions League round of 16 after their 2-0 defeat to Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side conceded twice in the first half and couldn’t make all their possession count as they drew a blank for the second time in as many away games in the Champions League.
The defeat leaves the Reds second in Group C, but the Merseyside outfit have difficult games against Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli coming up on their two remaining matchdays.
Liverpool were expected to beat Red Star Belgrade away from home, but Lallana said there are no guaranteed results in the Champions League, before calling for a reaction from his team-mates.

“That’s the Champions League and there’s no teams that enter this competition that give you wins.
“We knew it was going to be completely different to the game at Anfield a fortnight ago but it wasn’t to be.
"It wasn’t like us.
"We need to move on and improve if we are going to go through to the knockout stages”, Lallana told Liverpool’s official website.
The Reds will turn their attention to the Premier League when they host bottom placed Fulham on Sunday in their next game.
