Liverpool summer-recruit Fabinho has admitted the intensity of the Premier League was initially difficult to become accustomed to, but insists that patience helped him adapt and settle in quickly at Anfield.

Fabinho, who arrived on Merseyside from Monaco in Ligue 1 during the summer, had to wait patiently on the bench before making his full Premier League debut against Cardiff City in October.

Despite joining Liverpool in a blockbuster deal, Fabinho had struggled to replicate the kind of performances that made him a household name in France, when Monaco usurped Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 under Leonardo Jardim.

However, the midfielder hogged the limelight during the Reds’ 3-1 defeat of rivals Manchester United on Sunday with a man of the match performance at Anfield.

Fabinho, who had to wait patiently to make his mark under Jurgen Klopp, admitted that the intensity of the Premier League was initially quite difficult to become accustomed to, after his arrival in the summer.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old added that his patience helped him adapt to the new challenge and insisted he is now settled in well at Anfield.

“The intensity is different from what I am used to [but] I’ve got into the rhythm of the team and got used to the style of play”, Fabinho told the club’s official website.

“The role that the manager asks of me is what I’m used to, so there were no problems in adapting in that respect.

“Obviously in the first games I didn’t have that automatic understanding with the rest of the team, so I had to work a bit harder to understand other players’ runs, but I can do this faster now.

“I’ve adapted quickly to the team and I’m playing more now – at the beginning I had to be patient – and that’s been really good for me and has helped a great deal in settling in.”

Fabinho, who won the domestic title with Monaco in 2017, has notched up 13 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool so far this season.
