Leeds United are unlikely to be eyeing Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow as a number two, it has been claimed.

The Whites have fielded Bailey Peacock-Farrell between the sticks this season, but recently saw the Northern Ireland international's backup Jamal Blackman suffer a leg fracture.

As a result Blackman's loan at Leeds is over and he has returned to parent club Chelsea.

Leeds are keen to bring in another goalkeeper as a result and have been linked with Newcastle shot-stopper Darlow.

But, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, if Darlow does arrive at Elland Road he is likely to be handed the number 1 shirt by Leeds.

The Whites are firm fans of Darlow and he would be expected to be given playing time at the expense of Peacock-Farrell.

Darlow has made just a single appearance, in the EFL Cup, for Newcastle in the current campaign, but does have extensive experience of the Championship.

The 28-year-old has made 140 appearances in the Championship.
