Rangers winger Glenn Middleton has admitted that he did not think he would progress as fast as he has with the Gers this season.

Middleton has featured in 12 Scottish Premiership games so far this season and has had a direct hand in five goals.

The 18-year old came off the bench in Rangers’ last game against St. Johnstone on Sunday, and provided the assist for Alfredo Morelos’ goal in the 65th minute that levelled the scores

Though Middleton has started just three times in the league, he feels that he is already ahead of where he expected to be at this stage of the season.

“I’m grateful for all the opportunities [the manager]’s given me but none of that means anything if we don't get the three points.

“I’m further ahead in terms of my own progress than where I thought I’d be by now but I just need to take it session by session, game by game, and hopefully see where it leads me”, Middleton was quoted as saying by the Herald.

The Gers have two crucial games against Hibernian and Celtic coming up before the winter break and Middleton will hope to play a part and help his side remain in the title hunt.

Should the Gers win both games, they would move above Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table, heading into 2019.
