Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the squad are not treating Christmas Day any differently to a normal day and says it is business as usual at Melwood ahead of their next game.

The Reds take on Newcastle United on Boxing Day and will hope to make it eight wins in a row in the Premier League and keep their four-point lead at the top of the table.

Klopp’s side have a crucial phase coming up as they have big games against Arsenal and Manchester City on either side of New Year’s Day, following their clash against the Magpies.

The Liverpool boss insists that the squad are focused ahead of their next game and firmly believe in taking it one game at a time, despite all the talk of the Reds finally ending their near three-decade wait for a league title.

“For us as a team, today is another day in our preparations”, Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.

“We will train this morning at Melwood, go home to our families this afternoon and then return to the hotel tonight ready for tomorrow’s important game with Newcastle.

“The best thing about these boys, and what has helped us have such a good start to the season, is they do not listen to the noise; they are 100 per cent every single day in training and every single matchday.

“We know when we say ‘one game at a time’ some people might consider it football talk, but that really is the way for us. It is the philosophy that has got us to where we are currently.”

Liverpool could have to work hard to beat Newcastle on Boxing Day, with Rafael Benitez's side conceding just seven goals in eight away league games this term.
