Former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Nigel Spackman feels Steven Gerrard has all the qualities to become a top manager in the future.

Gerrard has had a good start to his managerial career with Rangers so far as the Light Blues are only behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table by a single point.

The former Liverpool captain had a distinguished career as a player as he lifted the Champions League with the Reds and won every domestic and European trophy, barring the elusive Premier League title.

Spackman feels Gerrard has the drive and enthusiasm and just like he got to the top as a player, he has it in him to get to the top as a manager.

“I’m sure Steven will go on to become a top manager, not just here at Rangers, but also everywhere else he goes after Rangers”, Spackman said in a podcast on Rangers’ official website.

“He will be a top manager because he has the drive, the enthusiasm, and that’s what he expects from his players.

“And he has the belief in his own ability, works hard, worked hard to get where he was, and he’ll work hard to get to the top of management as well and that’s what he’ll expect from his players.”

The Rangers job is Gerrard’s first at club level and he will hope to make it one to remember as the Gers are pushing Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
