Dejan Lovren has rallied Liverpool for their next match, against Arsenal, after they moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League by beating Newcastle United 4-0.

Liverpool went in front in the eleventh minute when Lovren struck, while Mohamed Salah gave the Reds breathing space two minutes into the second half when he converted from the penalty spot.

Xherdan Shaqiri made it 3-0 with eleven minutes left, while Fabinho put the finishing touches to the victory by striking five minutes from time.

With Manchester City losing away at Leicester City, now the Reds have a seven-point lead at the top of the table as they head into their next match, against Arsenal.

Lovren has urged Liverpool to make sure they keep up their winning momentum and grab another three points against Arsenal. 

He was quoted as saying by the BBC: "We just focused on ourselves and it's game by game for us. Every game is a final for us.

"It was a tough opening first half – it's difficult to score against Newcastle but we showed patience and quality.

"We need to keep this momentum and after the next couple of games we will see where we are. Every game now matters.

"We just look at ourselves, how we perform and this is what the manager wants from us.

"The rest will happen.

"It's a good day for us, good for the fans and let's do it again against Arsenal", the Liverpool defender added.

Liverpool are due to take on Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday, before they then travel to Manchester City on Thursday 3rd January.
