Former Australia international and ex-Leeds United trialist Ned Zelic has lavished praise on the job Marcelo Bielsa has done at Elland Road this season.

Two stoppage-time goals from Kemar Roofe on Boxing Day earned Leeds three points against Blackburn Rovers and their seventh consecutive win in the Championship.

Leeds are currently three points clear at the top of the Championship table and are huge favourites to earn promotion back to the Premier League at the end of the campaign.

The Whites gambled on the mercurial Bielsa in the summer after Paul Heckingbottom struggled for results towards the end of last season.

And it seems their decision to go for the Argentine is paying off and Zelic admits it would be a massive achievement if Bielsa leads the Yorkshire giants back to the top table of English football.

The former Australia star took to Twitter and wrote: “Simply amazing what Marcelo Bielsa is doing at Leeds United.

“The guy is a genius.

“What an achievement it would be if he can lead the club to promotion.”

Leeds will look to make it eight wins in a row when they host Hull City at Elland Road on Saturday.
