Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has indicated that Nottingham Forest and Leeds United linked Karl Darlow will not be sold in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper is attracting attention ahead of the opening of the winter window, with Leeds keen to seal a loan move and Forest being linked with their former custodian.

It has been claimed that the Magpies will not accept loan proposals for Darlow and favour a permanent sale.

However, it seems Benitez has no plans to sell Darlow in January and Rob Elliot is the only goalkeeper Newcastle are prepared to listen to offers for in the coming weeks.

The Newcastle boss said in a press conference: "The only one [goalkeeper] that is available in the window is Rob Elliot.”

Benitez also wants to add to his squad in January, but is well aware of the financial constraints he will be dealing with the winter window.
