Nottingham Forest are close to locking highly-rated talent Arvin Appiah down to a new contract, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The youngster, who has been tipped for big things at the City Ground, made his debut in the Championship for the Tricky Trees against Leeds United on New Year's Day.

Forest grabbed a morale-boosting 4-2 win over the Championship leaders and could now be set for a further boost.

Aitor Karanka's men are now close to locking Appiah down on a new contract which would secure his future at the City Ground.

Appiah turns 18 years old on 5th January and is a product of Nottingham Forest's academy.

The attacker has been capped by England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level.
