West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian says that the FA Cup is a great competition and the Hammers want to do well and progress further.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side picked up a routine 2-0 win against Birmingham City in the third round on Saturday as Marko Arnautovic and Andy Carroll got on the scoresheet.

Adrian, who is currently the club’s second choice goalkeeper, behind Lukasz Fabianski, also featured in goal and made only his fourth appearance for the club this season.

West Ham have picked up their form in recent months under Pellegrini and with some of the star names returning from injury, they will be hopeful of a good cup run.

Adrian has admitted that the team want to have a good run in the competition while keeping their focus on the Premier League as well.

“We did well, they had their chances, but we scored the second one at the end to secure the result”, Adrian told West Ham United’s official website, reflecting on the win over Birmingham.

“I want to play as many games as possible, so if we go through to the next round I will have more possibility to play.

“We will see – we want to have a good run in the FA Cup because it is a great competition.

“We need to be focused in the league as well, but [we want to do well] in the cup.”

The Hammers have a week’s rest before they turn their attention to Arsenal in the Premier League next Saturday.
