Derby County goalkeeper Scott Carson has urged his team to get back to their best and move up the Championship table after their recent setback against Leeds United.

The Rams were beaten 2-0 by Leeds at Elland Road on Friday in a game that was overshadowed by the spy-gate scandal, and the loss saw them lose ground on the teams above them in the Championship table.

Frank Lampard’s side next take on Southampton in an FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday, before they face off against Reading in the Championship next weekend.

Carson has admitted that the team need to get a few wins together after what has been a tough few weeks for the side.

“It’s another game [against Southampton] that we can go and play out without any pressure. Hopefully work on a few things and try to get some confidence back”, Carson told Rams TV.

“But obviously next Saturday is another big one and that’s what we need to focus on and get right for because we’ve had quite a few tough games of late and we just need to get back to it and try to string some three points together and start moving back up the table.

“It has been a tough few weeks over Christmas.”

Derby have managed just one win in their last seven games in all competitions, and need to bounce back quickly if they are to challenge the teams in the automatic promotions spots in the league.
