Swedish giants AIK's swoop for West Ham United starlet Sead Haksabanovic is hanging by a thread.

AIK recently lost midfielder Kristoffer Olsson to Russian top flight side Krasnodar and have zeroed in on West Ham's Haksabanovic to replace him.

The Swedish giants want to do a deal with West Ham as they look for an eye-catching signing to replace Olsson, but the Hammers prefer a loan.

And, according to Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt, AIK do not like such an agreement as they believe it would send the wrong signal to replace a star man such as Olsson with a loan signing.

AIK are aiming to make progress this week as they look to snap up Haksabanovic.

West Ham could yet choose to sell the 19-year-old, but would want to recoup the majority of the close to £3m they laid out to sign him from Halmstads in 2017.

Or for a loan deal, the Hammers would be aiming for AIK to pay the vast majority of the Montenegro international's salary.

Haksabanovic represented Sweden at Under-17 and Under-19 level.
