Nantes forward Emiliano Sala met Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock on Monday and discussed the possibility of him moving to Wales in January.

Cardiff are actively seeking to bring in a new striker in the winter window and the Nantes hitman has emerged as their top target.

They have had an agreement in place with Nantes to sign Sala for several weeks and have committed to paying a fee of around £20m in order to take the striker to Wales in January.

However, convincing the player has been a more arduous task as the striker has not been considering leaving the Ligue 1 club during the winter transfer window.

Nantes have been working hard to push Sala towards Cardiff and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the player did travel to Wales on Monday to discuss a move.

The striker visited Cardiff and Warnock met the Argentine to discuss the footballing project on offer with the Bluebirds.

The Cardiff boss did his best to convince Sala to consider the move, but the player is yet to make a decision on whether to accept the offer on his table.

He has returned to France, while Cardiff are waiting patiently to hear from Sala.
