The Premier League new boys have targeted Kent and have already seen Rangers reject an offer; they are tipped to go back in with a fresh proposal.
Leeds view Kent as an ideal addition as he is able to operate both as a winger and a number 10, with boss Marcelo Bielsa a big fan of versatile players as it allows him to run a smaller squad.
The Whites though face a battle to sign Kent as they have now become aware that Rangers will not sell both the winger and striker Alfredo Morelos.
Morelos has been heavily linked with a move away from Ibrox before the transfer window closes.
Rangers have already brought in two strikers in anticipation of a possible move, with Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten coming in from Anderlecht and St Gallen, respectively.
Morelos returned to Rangers’ matchday squad on Saturday, but was an unused substitute as the Gers beat Hamilton 2-0 in a Scottish Premiership encounter.
Leeds’ bid for Kent, which was rejected, has in various quarters been claimed to have been between £8.5m and £10m, initially.
