Garcia has told Manchester City that he will not be signing a new contract and wants to leave the club with a year left on his current deal.

Manchester City snared the young defender away from Barcelona’s academy in 2017 and the Spaniard is now keen to return to his former club.

The two clubs are in talks, but are far away from reaching an agreement over a fee, with Barcelona not prepared to offer more than €15m for Garcia.

And according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants are prepared to wait to sign the teenage defender on a free transfer next year if a deal is not agreed.

With only a year left on his contract, Barcelona are not in any hurry to meet Manchester City’s demands as they are aware that Garcia only wants to return to the Nou Camp.

The Premier League giants initially slapped an asking price of €25m on Garcia, and while they are prepared to accept a lower fee, they do not want to do a deal for less than the €18m figure.

But Barcelona do not want to spend a penny more than €15m in the currently depressed transfer market.

With only three weeks left in the transfer window, Barcelona are prepared to wait until January to agree on a pre-contract with Garcia.
