Nicolo Zaniolo’s knee injury has forced Roma to reassess their transfer plans and they are now looking at bringing in a creative midfield option.

The Serie A giants have been considering a number of options in the market and Udinese midfielder De Paul’s name has emerged as an option for the Serie A giants.

According to Italian radio station Tele Radio Stereo, the Argentinian’s agent has been contacted by Roma to register their interest in De Paul.

The midfielder’s future at Udinese has been under the scanner all summer due to interest from several clubs in Europe.

Zenit have offered to meet Udinese’s asking price, but De Paul does not want to move to Russia.

Roma could start work on a deal, but it is claimed that Leeds are ahead in the race as they have already put in the legwork on a deal.

However, it is unclear if Leeds are prepared to meet Udinese’s asking price for De Paul.

Roma will now assess whether they should go head first into the chase for De Paul and look to take him to the Stadio Olimpico.
