Torreira is expected to leave Arsenal in the ongoing transfer window as the Gunners look to raise funds to bring in a new defensive midfielder.

A move back to Italy has been mooted for the former Sampdoria man and the Uruguayan is said to be keen to return to Serie A.

Torino are leading the race to sign him and are confident of doing a deal to sign the midfielder on a two-year loan in the ongoing transfer window.

And according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, the Serie A outfit have ended their interest in other midfielders in order to go all-in for the Arsenal star.

Torino coach Marco Giampaolo managed the midfielder at Sampdoria and has made a specific request to the club’s board to land him.

The Serie A club are keen to adhere to the demands of their coach and are prepared to push the limits to sign Torreira.

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to accept a two-year loan, with Torino setting an obligatory purchase clause of €20m in the proposed agreement.

However, Fiorentina are still in the race for Torreira and the club are still weighing up the option of signing him.
