Jose Mourinho wants to sign a top-class striker as back-up to Harry Kane and Tottenham have been scouring the market for options.

They were outgunned by Aston Villa for Ollie Watkins and the club are now considering options in Italy in the ongoing transfer window.

It has been claimed that the north London club have failed with a bid to sign Torino’s Bellotti, but the saga is far from over.

According to Italian daily La Stampa, Tottenham have not given up on signing the Italy international and are preparing to put in a fresh offer.

Their previous bid was worth €5m for an initial loan deal with an option to buy set at the €40m mark.

It has been claimed that Tottenham are prepared to push the final package to around €50m in order to take Belotti to north London before next month’s transfer deadline.

Belotti has been pivotal for Torino over the years and the club are not keen to let him go yet.

But the club could bite the bullet if they receive an offer that is too good to turn down.
