Tottenham have a deal in place with Real Madrid to sign the 31-year-old winger on loan with the Spanish giants agreeing to pay half of his large salary.

Bale has undergone a medical in Madrid and is currently on his way to London alongside Real Madrid team-mate Sergio Reguilon, who will also join Tottenham.

An announcement is expected to be made by Tottenham today and Spurs are confident that Bale will rediscover his mojo at his former club.

And it has been claimed that Bale and Tottenham will have an option to extend the loan deal for one more year next summer.

If the winger does well in north London, Tottenham are likely to want to keep Bale at the club for one more season.

If the Welshman stays at the club for two years, it would take him to the end of his contract at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid do not want Bale back in Spain and are hopeful that he does well enough for Tottenham to keep him for one more season.

Bale will be a free agent at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
