Manchester United have been chasing the winger for several months, but have not managed to reach an agreement with Dortmund for his services.

Sancho has reportedly agreed on personal terms on a contract with Manchester United and is willing to move to Old Trafford, but he has so far refused to force the issue with the Bundesliga giants.

Dortmund were clear that they would not sell Sancho when their 10th August deadline passed, but Manchester United have not given on the prospect of signing the 20-year-old winger.

And Kehl stressed that Dortmund’s position has not changed and it is an important sign that the club will not be selling one of their best players in Sancho.

He was quoted as saying by German daily the Ruhr Nachrichten: “He is our player – and he will stay.

“It was an important statement from the club because we have a certain responsibility.

“Without Jadon, this team are worse.”

The main sticking point for Manchester United has been Dortmund’s €120m asking price for Sancho.

The club are still confident by transfer deadline day next month, they will be able to negotiate a deal with Dortmund.
