The 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder has been linked with a move away from Sporting Lisbon with several clubs believed to be interested in securing his services.

Ligue 1 giants Monaco are pushing to land the midfielder before the end of the transfer window and have tabled a bid for him.

Sporting Lisbon are believed to be holding out for a fee of more than €20m and for the moment and the Ligue 1 giants are pushing to secure a deal.

But according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Manchester United cannot be ruled out from making a bid for him before the end of the window.

The Premier League giants failed with an offer of around €25m for Wendel in July and have continued to keep tabs on him.

But the Red Devils have signed Donny van de Beek since then and their priorities lie in signing a left-back and a right-winger.

It remains to be seen whether the club will consider bringing in another midfielder in the shape of Wendel before next month’s deadline.

For the moment, Monaco are the ones who are pushing to sign Wendel from Sporting Lisbon.
