The 27-year-old defender played in the EFL Cup game against Blackburn last week, but he is firmly out of Steve Bruce’s plans at Newcastle.

The Newcastle manager wants to sell him and the defender is also keen to move on from St. James’ Park and start afresh at a new club.

Besiktas are interested but they are far away from reaching an agreement with Newcastle for the United States international.

Newcastle want to recoup as much of the £5m they paid to sign him from Tottenham Hotspur as possible but Besiktas are not willing to play ball.

The Turkish giants want to sign him on a free transfer as Yedlin is in the final year of his contract at Newcastle and believe the club should let him go.

Besiktas are not even prepared to include a sell-on clause in an agreement that would earn Newcastle some money if he moves on again.

A move back to the MLS has been mooted, but Yedlin wants to continue to play in Europe and in a less competitive league where his attacking talents would flourish.

Besiktas are the only club who have shown real interest in Yedlin and he has no offers on his table from England or Germany.
