The north London club are looking to strengthen their midfield department before next month’s transfer deadline and have been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.

While Arsenal continue their efforts to land Partey and Aouar, they also have other names on their list of potential midfield options.

Chelsea’s 28-year-old Italian midfielder Jorginho is one of a number of players the Gunners considering to strengthen their options in the middle of the park.

The Italy international was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge earlier in the window, but has captained the Blues in both their league games so far.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea are still willing to let Jorginho leave this year, especially to go to their London rivals.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was assistant to Pep Guardiola when Manchester City made a move to sign the midfielder in the summer of 2018.

And the Spaniard could make another attempt to link with up Jorginho if Arsenal fail to land primary defensive midfield target Partey.
