Coutinho has been linked with a move away from Barcelona throughout the transfer window as the Catalan club look to cut costs, and the Brazilian could be an option for Arsenal.

It has been claimed that Arsenal have serious interest in signing the player and they have held detailed conversations with Joorabchian over signing the midfielder in the ongoing transfer window.

A loan deal is being discussed and the Gunners would have to fork out a loan fee of €8m to take the Brazilian to the Emirates.

Arsenal would though have to pay 100 per cent of his wages as Barcelona are in no mood to subsidise his salary and the whole deal could cost the Gunners €20m for just a season.

And Barcelona are now insisting on including an obligatory purchase clause to guarantee a transfer fee from Coutinho’s departure.

It has been claimed that the Catalan giants want the transfer fee to be around €80m and are keen to see Arsenal commit to an obligation to buy.

The Gunners are unlikely to agree to such a figure but the club are keen on signing the Brazilian in the ongoing transfer window

Barcelona remain keen to move him on and it remains to be seen whether the Catalan giants can hold their position as the time ticks down on the transfer window.
