Smalling enjoyed his loan spell at Roma last season and wants to return to the club on a permanent deal from Manchester United.

He has been training away from the rest of the first-team squad and is waiting for Roma to work out a deal with Manchester United and take him back to Italy.

But Manchester United have continued to insist on earning €20m from the potential sale and Roma are yet to table a bid that would get even close to the sum the Red Devils are demanding.

And according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, patience is running thin for Smalling and the defender is now preparing to consider other offers.

He would prefer to return to Roma but he is ready to consider other offers as well to leave Manchester United with only ten days left in the window.

It has been claimed that Inter could be interested in grabbing him and could make a move if Milan Skriniar leaves the club.

Smalling also has suitors in the Premier League and he could soon kill his dream of returning to Roma for another club if the Serie A giants do not hurry up soon.
