Ancelotti has revamped his midfield this summer by bringing in the trio of James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure, while also snapping up left-back Niels Nkounkou.

But Toffees shot-stopper Pickford, who has not had the best start to his season, has already conceded four goals in three outings and the Englishman’s poor form has raised concern among some of the Everton faithful.

However Ancelotti, who is focused on adding a centre-back to his backline, made clear that the Toffees are not looking to bring in a new shot-stopper in the current transfer window.

Asked if Everton are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper, Ancelotti said in a press conference: “We are not looking for this.”

The Italian insists that he has complete faith in Pickford’s abilities and backs the 26-year-old to come back stronger as the season unfolds.

“There is a lot of focus on him but, I have to be honest, he started really well and did a fantastic match against Tottenham.

“I am not really focused on him, like you.

“He is a great goalkeeper.

“He has my total confidence”

Barcelona’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori have been credited with interest from Everton, but the Merseyside giants are yet to make any concrete advancements for either player.
