The 24-year-old has not been part of Chelsea’s squad since playing on the opening weekend of the season and he has been linked with a move away from the Blues.

West Ham and Aston Villa are interested taking him from Chelsea on a loan deal and the midfielder is keen to play regular football this season as he enters a crucial stage of his career.

Sinclair stressed that for his age Loftus-Cheek has not played enough football and if he does not move on from Chelsea, there is a real threat that his career could stall indefinitely.

The former winger also added that the midfielder must push for a permanent move as Chelsea could sign him back if he makes an impression at a different club.

Sinclair said on talkSPORT: “He has not played enough football, simple as that. He has played 54 games and he is 24 years old.

“He needs to get going or else it could one of those careers where you think he was well known and he probably did well financially but what did he achieve?

“I think he is got to go and sometimes your parent club, where they brought you through the ranks, they don’t give you opportunities sometimes, they don’t see what you have got in the bag and sometimes you have got to go away.

“And maybe, he can come back.”

Asked if he should consider a loan or a permanent move, Sinclair said: “I say go, cut that cord and make a career for yourself and if you do well enough, they will have him back.”

Loftus-Cheek still has four years left to run on his current Chelsea contract.
