The 22-year-old midfielder has agreed on a contract with Arsenal and the Gunners are said to have tabled a bid of around €35m for the Frenchman.

Aouar is keen to move on and Lyon are also prepared to sell if the price is right, as they look to raise funds which would allow them to balance their books this year.

Aulas conceded that a few players will be sold but insisted that Arsenal are nowhere close to meeting their asking price for Aouar at the moment.

The Lyon president also indicated that there is a chance that the midfielder will stay and get his team back to the Champions League at the end of the season.

Aulas took to Twitter and wrote: “There will be a few departures.

“For Houssem Aouar, Arsenal are too far away from his value.

“We are counting on him to play a big game against Lorient and lead us into the Champions League next year.”

Lyon are believed to be holding out for a fee of €60m before agreeing to let Aouar leave.
